Luis A. Bagatolli, PhD
Investigador Principal (Researcher)
Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET) Argentina.
Associate Professor, Dept. Biological Chemistry, School of Chemistry,
University of Córdoba, Argentina.
Luis A. Bagatolli obtained his M. Sc. (1991) and Ph. D. degree (1995) from the School of Chemical Sciences, University of Córdoba in Argentina. After a postdoctoral research at Laboratory for Fluorescence Dynamic, University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign, USA (1997-2000), and a brief stay in Argentina, he joined in 2002 MEMPHYS - Center for Biomembrane Physics at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) where he worked until February 2017. At present, he is a Researcher (Investigador Principal) of the Argentinian Research Council (CONICET) in a node located in the city of Córdoba (Instituto de Investigación Medica Mercedes y Martín Ferreyra). He is also an associated member at MEMPHYS- international and interdisciplinary research network.
My current research interests are related to physicochemical (biophysical) aspects of biological systems, particularly the effect of non-equilibrium conditions, crowding and spatial confinement in membranous systems and cells. I am also interested in the development and applications of biophotonic-related techniques to biological systems (fluorescence spectroscopy, imaging techniques based in multiphoton excitation microscopy). I have authored numerous papers, review articles and book chapters, including 2 books, on topics such as lipid-lipid and lipid-proteins interactions in membranes (composed of synthetic lipid mixtures, natural membrane’s lipid extracts, naturally occurring biological membranes) and performed studies on skin tissue.
